LGBTQ Senior Housing at St. Andrew’s
St. Andrew's is a proud supporter of the LGBTQ community, and we offer affordable senior housing options for everyone, including older adults who are part of the LGBT community.
Why We Must Support LGBT Seniors in Long-Term Care Settings
At St. Andrew's, we understand the importance of LGBT-friendly senior housing. We know that LGBTQ people face unique obstacles to affordable housing and medical care; these obstacles can worsen with age. LGBTQ seniors can face housing discrimination based on their identities and they are less likely to have adult children or other family members to support them in older age, reducing their housing options. These obstacles all place LGBTQ adults at a higher risk of homelessness than their non-LGBTQ peers; transgender individuals, unfortunately, are at an even greater risk of homelessness than other members of the queer community.
